The Union of the Allied Forces should have remained in Union as a lot of people realised that if Scotland became an independent state, Scotland would be vulnerable.There would be no such thing as a Scottish Navy; a Scottish Air Force nor a Scottish Army, although much of the British Army was made up of Scotsmen; the British Transport Police would also be annulled; Tommy checked out the Scottish policy if Scotland became independent ........................

In today's Herald a Nobel Peace Prize winner attacks the Scottish campaign for Independence. He goes onto correctly point out that, 'the idea that to be born in a given place and to claim the country is yours is a value in itself ridiculous. He goes onto say, '........ nationalism appeals to the tribe, the basic primitive tribe. We must fight this', because nationalism causes wars! Eg Yugoslavia; the old USSR (Ukraine 2022); and Hong Kong. (I'm not saying it's right - I'm saying what causes wars).

What transpired was a much better setup : for Scotland to negotiate terms for education; housing & security etc at Westminster to be able to deal directly with the Government ie Labour & Scotland in Union.
